Patchwork Bag

This bag is made out of reusable waste textile materials collected from tailors around Nairobi. These are pieces of cloth that are either printed with indigenous African motifs or h and decorated by mostly women groups in Kenya.

The small pieces of cloth are cut to size and then stitched together to form a large piece of a beautifully patterned fabric that is used in producing this bag. Besides the economic value of the bag to the producers, it also contributes towards environmental conservation through waste management. Managing waste is a big problem in Nairobi where less than 40% of waste generated daily is reused.
